Background:
The first Bell 206A flew on January 10, 1966, and the aircraft was announced at the American Helicopter Association (HAA) conference later this month. This helicopter can be used for passenger, troop, cargo, rescue, ambulance, surveying, farmland operations, oil field development, and administrative duties. The Bell-206 has developed a variety of modifications: Bell-206A, a basic civilian model developed on the basis of OH-4A, equipped with a 317 shaft horsepower Allison 250-C18A turboshaft engine; TH-57A "Sea Commando", a light primary training model for the US Navy; OH-58A "Kiowa", a light observation model for the US Army; Bell-206B "Jet Commando" II, a modification of Bell-206A, modified with a 400 shaft horsepower Allison 250-C20 turboshaft engine, delivered and put into use since the spring of 1971, with a total of 1,619 units delivered; Bell-206L "Texas Commando", an armed model developed on the basis of 206L, equipped with an Allison 250-C30 turboshaft auxiliary engine. This type of armed helicopter was developed to meet the needs of third world countries and can be equipped with 4 "TOW" anti-tank missiles, or 14 uncontrolled rockets, or other weapons.
