Product Background:
The first Bell 206A flew on January 10, 1966, and the aircraft was unveiled at the Helicopter Association of America (HAA) convention later that month. This helicopter can be used for passenger, troop, cargo, rescue, ambulance, surveying and mapping, agricultural operations, development of oil fields, and administrative duties. Various variants of the Bell-206 have been developed: the Bell-206A, a basic civilian version based on the OH-4A, fitted with a 317-shaft-horsepower Allison 250-C18A turboshaft engine; the TH-57A Sea Raider, the U.S. Navy's lightweight primary trainer version; the OH-58A "Kiowa, the U.S. Army's light observation version; Bell-206B Jet Raider II, a modification of the Bell-206A with a 400-shaft horsepower Allison 250-C20 turboshaft engine, delivered in the spring of 1971. Deliveries began in the spring of 1971, with a total of 1,619 aircraft delivered; the Bell-206L Texas Raider, an armed version of the 206L with a single Allison 250-C30 turboshaft engine, was developed to meet the needs of Third World countries, and can be equipped with four TOW helicopters.
