Some helicopters are instantly recognizable.
The Robinson R22 is one of them.
With its compact two-seat cabin, exposed mechanical structure and distinctive profile, the R22 has become one of the most recognizable light helicopters in general aviation. It is widely associated with flight training, private aviation and the joy of learning to fly.
Now, that familiar design comes to the RC field in a much larger format.
The new RVE R22 Robinson 1:4.5 Scale 700-Class RC Helicopter recreates the character of the R22 as a large-scale RC model, combining scale-inspired details with modern GPS-assisted flight technology.
From the Real Robinson R22 to an RC Scale Model
The real Robinson R22 was developed by Robinson Helicopter Company as a lightweight, two-seat piston-powered helicopter. Its relatively compact design and simple visual structure helped make the R22 a familiar sight at flight schools and airports around the world.
For many aviation enthusiasts, the R22 represents something more than just another helicopter.
It is often one of the first helicopters people encounter when learning about rotary-wing aviation. Its distinctive bubble-style cabin, narrow fuselage and exposed rotor and mechanical components give it an unmistakable appearance.
That recognizable character is exactly what makes the R22 such an interesting subject for a scale RC helicopter.
The RVE R22 takes inspiration from these defining features and translates them into a 1:4.5 scale, 700-class RC helicopter designed for enthusiasts who appreciate both aviation history and the experience of flying a realistic model.
A 1:4.5 Scale R22 with a Serious RC Presence
This is not a small desk-size model.
At 700-class, the RVE R22 is designed to deliver the presence expected from a large-scale RC helicopter. The 1:4.5 scale proportions allow the characteristic R22 silhouette to become a major part of the experience.
The goal is not simply to make an RC helicopter that flies.
It is to create an aircraft that looks and feels connected to the real helicopter that inspired it.
For scale RC enthusiasts, details such as the fuselage proportions, cockpit appearance and recognizable R22 profile are part of what makes a model worth adding to a collection.
Modern Flight Technology Inside a Classic Design
While the inspiration comes from a familiar aviation classic, the RVE R22 is built around modern RC technology.
The helicopter uses an H2 flight controller with GPS positioning, together with a 2.4GHz 6-channel control system.
This combination brings modern flight assistance to a scale helicopter designed around a traditional aviation icon.
The result is an interesting contrast: a helicopter inspired by a design that has been flying for decades, equipped with contemporary RC flight-control technology.
RTF or KIT — Two Ways to Build Your R22
The RVE R22 is offered in two configurations to accommodate different types of RC enthusiasts.
RTF — Ready-to-Fly
The RTF configuration is designed for customers who want a complete setup.
It includes the required electronics and flight components, including the motor, ESC, servos, H2 flight controller, GPS and transmitter.
For pilots who want to experience the R22 without sourcing and installing the electronics separately, RTF provides a more complete starting point.
KIT — Airframe Only
For experienced builders, the KIT configuration takes a different approach.
The KIT includes the R22 fuselage and main frame only, without electronics or flight-control components.
This allows experienced hobbyists to select and install their own power system, electronics and flight-control equipment.
In other words, RTF is designed around convenience, while KIT leaves more room for a personal build.
Choose Your R22 Color
The RVE R22 is available in three colors:
White — Clean and classic, emphasizing the R22's distinctive shape.
Red — A more striking appearance for the flying field.
Yellow — A highly visible option that gives the model a distinctive presence in the air.
Whether you prefer a traditional aviation look or something more eye-catching, the three color options allow you to choose the R22 that fits your collection.
More Than a Scale Model
There is something special about scale RC helicopters.
A sport helicopter can be exciting because of the way it flies. A scale helicopter adds another dimension — the connection between the model and the real aircraft that inspired it.
The RVE R22 is designed around that idea.
The real Robinson R22 is a helicopter that many aviation enthusiasts recognize immediately. For some, it may bring back memories of seeing helicopters at local airports. For others, it may be connected to flight training, aviation photography or simply an appreciation for classic light helicopters.
The RVE R22 brings that recognizable aviation character into the RC hobby.
You can build it, display it and, most importantly, take it to the flying field.
A Robinson R22 for the RC Generation
The RVE R22 combines the character of a well-known real-world helicopter with the technology expected from a modern RC aircraft.
1:4.5 scale. 700-class platform. H2 flight controller. GPS positioning. 2.4GHz 6CH control. RTF or KIT.
But the numbers only tell part of the story.
The real attraction is the R22 itself — a helicopter with a silhouette that has become part of modern general aviation.
For RC pilots and aviation enthusiasts who have always liked the Robinson R22, this model offers a new way to experience that familiar design.
Bring the R22 Spirit to Your RC Hangar
The new RVE R22 Robinson 1:4.5 Scale 700-Class RC Helicopter is available in White, Red and Yellow, with both RTF and KIT configurations.
Whether you want a complete ready-to-fly setup or prefer to build your own airframe, the RVE R22 gives you the opportunity to bring one of aviation's most recognizable light-helicopter designs into your RC collection.
Real helicopter inspiration. Scale proportions. Modern RC flight technology.
